3100 miracle trees
If you want to go fast,
If you want to go far,
Moringa is a nutrient-rich tree that is native to some parts of Asia and Africa. Moringa means drumstick and is famous for its high nutritional value and health benefits. There are thirteen species in Africa and Asia, of which Moringa oleifera is the most cultivated species. Moringa is referred to by many as a miracle tree due to the positive properties and their drought resistance.
All parts of the Moringa tree can be consumed. Most of the leaves are used. They are eaten fresh as vegetables or dried and crushed to a powder.
From the seeds high quality oil can be obtained.
The roots have also attributed medicinal properties.
Training of 56 ambassadors
Fourteen volunteers are trained in 14 villages, so-called ambassadors.
Green Spark equips them with knowledge and tools to successfully raise a nursery and grow moringa trees.
In regular training, the ambassadors learn all about the miracle tree Moringa.
Green Spark accompanies the volunteers in raising the Moringa seedlings very closely to ensure the best possible results.
Help for self-help
Better nutrition for 1200 families
About 1500 families live in the 14 villages, of which 1200 families have registered for Moringa trees.
The diet is very one-sided. In case of malnutrition the disease and mortality rate is high. The way to the next doctor is long and arduous.
Moringa as "superfood" strengthens the immune system, reduces the disease rate, reduces medical costs and thus provides a better quality of life.
Source of income
New business for ambassadors
The ambassadors are paid per successfully raised seedling for the initiative of Green Spark and the families.
After the end of the project, the tree nurseries will continue to be run independently by the ambassadors as a business.
Regular income for the families
Green Spark buys some of the leaves and seeds from the families. This provides the families with a regular source of income.
