Many Fire Survivors are now in the design and construction stages of their rebuild and many have chosen to rebuild homes that embody sustainable qualities. These meetings provide a forum for homeowners focusing on a greener, fire-resistant rebuild to connect with similar rebuilders, share resources, discuss challenges and find solutions. Homeowners interested or considering rebuilding sustainably will benefit from asking questions and participating in the fire survivor-driven conversation.
RSVP: by Thursday, June 25th, to jowens@green-spark.org or 619-358-5110.
Our meetings continue to offer the rebuilding community support and resources. We hope you will join us at June’s meeting.
Green-Spark team members are delighted to visit with children who may attend. Refreshments will be provided.

What makes a building “green?” This workshop answers the question by considering the five green building and performance measures promoted by Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) and the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning (ASHRAE) Standard 189. These measures are 1) water efficiency; 2) energy efficiency; 3) sustainable sites; 4) materials and resources; and 5) indoor environmental
quality. See how each measure makes a building green, and how each impacts new construction and existing buildings. A significant part of the seminar is dedicated to the economics of green construction and retrofits.
